Questions
Where can I find free embroidery patterns for beginners?
Start with a small hoop that uses three to five basic stitches. Every Craftuary embroidery pattern on this page is free, comes with a true-size template to trace, and explains each stitch it uses.
What do I need for these embroidery patterns?
A 6 in hoop, a 10 in square of light cotton or linen-cotton, DMC six-strand floss in the listed colours, a size 7 embroidery needle, small scissors and a water-soluble pen. Cross stitch charts use 14-count Aida and a size 24 tapestry needle instead.
How many strands of floss do I use?
Two strands of six-strand floss for every stitch in our hoops, and two strands for full crosses on 14-count Aida.
Are the PDFs free?
Yes. Each pattern can be read in full on its page, and the printable PDF (US Letter and A4, with the template or chart) is free with a Craftuary account.
