Standard blanket sizes are about 12 × 12 in for a lovey, 36 × 36 in for a baby blanket, 50 × 60 in for a throw, 66 × 90 in twin, 80 × 90 in full, 90 × 100 in queen and 108 × 100 in king. These are finished sizes, the same whether you crochet, knit or sew. The chart gives inches, centimetres and feet, plus the foundation chain for each width in worsted yarn.

Chains assume worsted (weight 4) at 12.5, 12 and 11.5 stitches per 4 in for sc, hdc and dc (midpoints of the Craft Yarn Council single crochet range, reduced for taller stitches); your own gauge replaces them. The chain includes the turning chain (1 for sc, 2 for hdc and dc).
Multiply the width in inches by your stitches per inch (gauge over 4 in, divided by 4) and add the turning chain. At 12 half double crochet per 4 in, a 36 in baby blanket is 36 × 12 ÷ 4 = 108 stitches, so chain 110. Row gauge gives the length the same way. The blanket size calculator does both and adds yarn.
A throw in worsted half double crochet takes about 1,050–1,500 yards. The full table, by size, stitch and yarn weight, is in how much yarn for a blanket. For a corner-to-corner blanket, see the C2C blanket size chart.
Sources: sizes from A Crocheted Simplicity (standard blanket sizes) and Oombawka Design (blanket and afghan sizes); lovey and throw from Paradise Fibers; gauge ranges from the Craft Yarn Council Standard Yarn Weight System, all read 2026-10-21. Every yardage here is an estimate range: stitch pattern, tension, hook and fibre move it, so swatch first and buy from one dye lot.
A throw is about 50 × 60 in (127 × 152 cm), a baby blanket about 36 × 36 in (91 × 91 cm), a twin about 66 × 90 in, a full about 80 × 90 in, a queen about 90 × 100 in and a king about 108 × 100 in.
About 50 × 60 in (127 × 152 cm), roughly 4 ft 2 in by 5 ft. Larger lap and sofa throws run to about 60 × 70 in; check the chart.
Commonly 36 × 36 in (91 × 91 cm). A crib blanket is about 36 × 45 in (91 × 114 cm) and a lovey is about 12 × 12 in.
It depends on your gauge. At 12.5 single crochet per 4 in (worsted), a 50 in width is about 156 stitches, so chain 157. Measure your own swatch or use the calculator.
A blanket for a bed needs to hang over the sides and cover the pillows, so the listed twin to king sizes are larger than the mattress itself.
