Craftuary guide · corner to corner
At 5 tiles per 4 in, typical for worsted yarn, a corner-to-corner (C2C) throw is 63 × 75 squares, 4,725 tiles in all, worked in 137 diagonal rows. A tile is one chain-3 plus 3 double crochets. The table uses 5 tiles per 4 in for worsted and 4 for bulky; your own swatch changes every number.

Squares across = width in inches × tiles per inch; squares down = length × tiles per inch. A rectangle is worked by increasing at both edges until you reach the short side, then increasing on one edge and decreasing on the other, then decreasing at both edges. Diagonal rows = across + down − 1.
Crochet and block a C2C square of at least 7 × 7 tiles, measure its width, then divide the tiles by the inches and multiply by 4. The C2C calculator takes that number and gives the squares, rows and yarn for any size. For standard sizes in inches, see the blanket size chart; for yarn by stitch, see how much yarn for a blanket.
Sources: worsted C2C yardage from two published Ravelry C2C patterns (C2C Window Pane Square, Fox Fall Leaves C2C Blanket), scaled to bulky by CrochetCalc's yarn-weight ratios; tile gauge from the Craft Yarn Council single crochet gauge ranges; blanket sizes as in the blanket size chart, read 2026-10-21. Every yardage here is an estimate range: stitch pattern, tension, hook and fibre move it, so swatch first and buy from one dye lot.
At 5 tiles per 4 in (typical for worsted yarn), a 50 × 60 in throw is 63 × 75 squares, 4,725 tiles in all.
At 5 tiles per 4 in, a 36 × 36 in baby blanket is 45 × 45 squares.
Divide the tiles by your tiles per inch to get inches, or multiply the inches by tiles per inch to get tiles. Tiles per 4 in divided by 4 is tiles per inch.
A C2C piece worked from one corner has its tiles across plus its tiles down, minus 1, diagonal rows.
More than plain stitches, about 0.77–1.19 yards per square inch in worsted. A 50 × 60 in throw takes roughly 2,328–3,599 yards.
