Assembly

  1. Embroider the two oval eyes on the pumpkin at Rnd 8 with colour C. On the front, about 6 stitches apart; embroider before closing, while you can reach inside.
  2. Embroider the small round open mouth on the pumpkin at Rnd 9 with colour C. Centred under the eyes.
  3. Stuff the pumpkin firmly, close it and leave a long tail of colour A.
  4. Make the sections: thread the long tail on a yarn needle, go down through the centre and out at the bottom, bring the yarn up the outside to the top and pull gently so it dips. Repeat 6 times around, evenly spaced and passing beside (never across) the face, and fasten off at the top.
  5. Sew the stem to the pumpkin between Rnds 1 and 2. On the centre top, open end down, lightly stuffed.
  6. Optional hanging loop: thread a length of colour A through the top of the pumpkin beside the stem and tie it into a loop.
  7. Weave in all ends.
