What you'll make
2 pieces (Mitten, Thumb), 19 rounds in all, every round with its stitch count written at the end so you can check as you go.
Tips
- Work in continuous spiral rounds and move your stitch marker up every round.
- Count your stitches at the end of each round; the number in brackets is what you should have.
- Use a hook a size smaller than your yarn label suggests, so the stuffing doesn't show.
- These make lovely gift toppers and tree ornaments; add a hanging loop before you sew the last piece.

- Rnd 1 6 sc in MR 6
- Rnd 2 inc in each st around 12
- Rnd 3 (sc, inc) x 6 18
- Rnd 4 (sc 2, inc) x 6 24

- Rnd 2 inc in each st around 8
- Rnds 3-6 sc in each st around 8
FO, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff lightly.
Assembly
- Flatten the Mitten; do not stuff it and do not close it. The cuff covers the open edge.
- Sew the thumb to the mitten between Rnds 7 and 8. Flattened, on one side edge, hanging down along the side towards the fingertips.
- Cuff: with colour B, ch 24 and sl st into the first ch to make a ring (do not twist). Rnd 1: ch 1, sc in each ch around, sl st to the first sc (24). Rnd 2: ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to the first sc (24). FO, leaving a long tail.
- Slip the Cuff over the open edge of the Mitten (Rnd 13) so it covers the last round, and sew it in place all the way around, through both layers.
- Embroider the small snowflake on the mitten around Rnds 6-8 with colour B. Centred on the front: three straight stitches crossing in the middle, 3 stitches long.
- Thread a length of colour B through the top of the cuff and tie into a hanging loop.
- Weave in all ends.
