Assembly

  1. Stuff the Body firmly before closing it, and leave a long tail of colour A. The magic ring end (Rnd 1) is the top of the robin.
  2. Embroider the two small eyes on the body at Rnd 10 with colour C. About 7 stitches apart on the front; each eye is 2 straight stitches side by side over 1 round, a small upright oval.
  3. Embroider the beak on the body around Rnds 11-12 with colour C. Centred between and just below the eyes: a solid triangle, point down, 3 stitches wide at the top; go over it 3 times so it stands up a little.
  4. Sew the breast to the body between Rnds 13 and 21. Flat and centred on the front, its top edge just below the beak; it covers the lower front almost to the bottom.
  5. Sew the wings to the body between Rnds 12 and 18. One on each side, folded in half into a half-circle; the fold upright, towards the front, the round edge towards the back.
  6. Thread a length of colour A, about 40 cm (16 in), under two stitches at the top of the body, twist the two halves together tightly and tie the ends into a hanging loop about 5 cm (2 in) tall.
  7. Weave in all ends.
