Assembly

  1. Before closing the pumpkin, stuff it firmly; then close it and leave a long tail of colour A.
  2. Make the sections: thread the long tail on a yarn needle, go down through the centre and out at the bottom, bring the yarn up the outside to the top and pull firmly so it dips deeply. Repeat 6 times around, evenly spaced, and fasten off at the top.
  3. Sew the stem to the pumpkin between Rnds 1 and 2. On the centre top, open end down, lightly stuffed.
  4. Sew the leaf to the pumpkin between Rnds 4 and 5. Beside the stem, towards the front, lying on the top; pinch two opposite sides of the circle into points first, so it is leaf shaped.
  5. Weave in all ends.
