FREE  Lesson 8 of 10

Reading a round

Rnd 3: (sc, inc) x6 (18) means: one single crochet, then an increase, and repeat that pair six times. The number in brackets is the count at the end of the round: 12 stitches in, 18 out.

Want this lesson to count? A free account saves your progress, earns the Crochet 101 badge and unlocks printable PDFs of every free pattern.

Practice it: Mini Christmas Bell (free pattern)

We rebuilt this pattern in 3D from its written text and checked all 14 rounds' stitch counts. That checks the counts and the shape, not your yarn or tension.
