FREE  Lesson 7 of 10

Rounds and the stitch marker

Amigurumi is worked in a spiral: do not join, just keep going into the next round. Clip a marker in the first stitch of each round and move it up when you come back to it, so you always know where a round starts.

Practice it: Candy Cane Ornament (free pattern)

We rebuilt this pattern in 3D from its written text and checked all 19 rounds' stitch counts. That checks the counts and the shape, not your yarn or tension.
